Brand: Fender

Offered for sale is a fully original 1961 Fender Stratocaster, complete with its original case and original owner provenance. This instrument was originally owned by Richard Rohnke, one of the founding members of The Drivin’ Dynamics—a celebrated Nebraska-based rock ‘n’ roll band formed in late 1961.

Included with the guitar are original photos of Richard and his band, offering rare documentation that connects this Stratocaster directly to a significant moment in American rock history. The Drivin’ Dynamics began performing in western Nebraska in the early 1960s, sharing stages with artists such as Bobby Vee, Freddy Cannon, and Tommy Roe, and are notable for launching the career of Randy Meisner, who would later co-found The Eagles.

Formed in November 1961, The Drivin’ Dynamics quickly became a premier live act in the Midwest, performing to packed halls and dance floors. Their long and storied career has been recognized by the Nebraska Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which certified them as the longest continuously running rock band in state history.

This Stratocaster was part of that early history—played during the band’s formative years at venues like Terry’s Arena in Terrytown and the legendary Little Moon Lake. Its provenance, condition, and documentation make it not only a superb example of an early-’60s Fender but also a piece of living rock history.
