This first year Gibson Country Western model comes to us from a professional touring musician. It
is an exceptionally good sounding example.
The Country Western was Gibson's "upscale", natural finish version of the sunburst Southern Jumbo, in the same way the J-50 was the higher end version of the J-45.
This particular guitar has a deep, full bass and a rich and detailed midrange. It's a prime example of that Gibson round shoulder sound that is equally iconic, yet different from a Martin D-18.
The extensive play wear on this instrument is a testament to how much somebody loved it. I definitely has seen a lot of gigs, and has some normal wear and tear that comes with such history.
The neck has recently been professionally reset by Holger Notzel. Holger also refretted the guitar and fitted a new bone nut and bone saddle. There is an under-saddle piezo pickup with endpin jack installed. An older jack hole in the side has been plugged.
Structurally the guitaris solid with no major repairs otherwise. It needs no work. Playability and sound are both as good as it gets.
The case is newer.
