Product Details

Scruff's is proud to be able to offer this beautiful, clean March of 1951 Fender Nocaster. It is in remarkable condition, including its original "thermometer" case.

This guitar came out of the personal collection of a well known pickup maker, and when we got it, it had one of his own bridge pickups installed. We sourced an original, period Broadcaster/Nocaster bridge pickup for this guitar. Original winding, tin plated base plate. The guitar is now back to 100% stock as it originally was.

Everything on this guitar is 100% correct and unaltered, including the original frets that are still comfortably playable. The overall condition is remarkable.  There is some finish flaking on the headstock, which is typical for the period. Fender was still developing their finishing process on these earliest guitars, and Broadcasters/Nocasters often suffer from finish adhesion issues. Compared to most we have seen, this guitar has very little of that, and the finish is well preserved overall.

This guitar is lightweight, has a very comfortable, medium sized neck, and rings loud and proud. The pickups sound absolutely fantastic. The coil wire on these early bridge pickups is thinner than on later blackguards, resulting in higher DC resistance and a thicker, rounder tone.

These don't come around often, much less in this condition and fully original. A truly amazing guitar
